SUPPLY CHAIN

METHODOLOGY

Our committees and member organizations are empowered with the invaluable CMSSA Standard Supply Chain Methodology blueprint when it comes to developing sustainable standards. This methodology is made up of several integral components, including:

  1. CARBON CREDITS
  2. POWER AND ENERGY
  3. ORGANIZATION
  4. EQUIPMENT

CARBON CREDITS

As the on-chain carbon credits industry begins to take shape, the CMSSA will develop standards to determine what constitutes a high-quality carbon credit. Our goal is to ensure that these credits are properly audited and that the compute that processes the network is run on a sustainable energy infrastructure.

POWER AND ENERGY

As part of the CMSSA, our member committees are examining the appropriate power mix for decentralized computing nodes that maintain digital asset industries. For instance, is a combination of 20% coal and 80% solar acceptable under this framework? We will establish those standards in due course, which could shift annually considering changes to technology or resources. Additionally, we endeavor to devise guidelines that guarantee power providers aren't counting renewable energy electrons twice.

ORGANIZATION

The CMSSA Standards will work to ensure greater transparency and traceability within the supply chain, utilizing blockchain technology to track transactions and movements. This process not only helps make production, distribution, and delivery of goods more efficient but it also serves as an effective way to reduce fraud risk. In order to support the standards of climate-related criteria as the SEC creates more regulations for Scope 1 and 2, CMSSA will strive to ascertain the digital asset industry’s place in terms of environmental sustainability via our standards.

EQUIPMENT

In order to minimize the ecological harm stemming from blockchain computing hardware, CMSSA is developing guidelines for Sustainable practices. By setting up these standards, we can lessen the environmental repercussions of manufacturing, using and discarding this type of technology.

To safeguard a sustainable future for the Digital Asset Industry, it is essential to adopt more responsible practices in blockchain computing hardware. This will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions and conserve natural resources but also minimize waste through strategies like using energy-efficient components, designing products with ease of repair and reuse in mind, utilizing recycled materials, and implementing reliable recycling processes. With these measures in place we can ensure that progress continues without placing too much strain on our planet.
